Surgical Abortion
This method is also known as vacuum aspiration. The procedure itself takes less than 5 minutes and then you will then sit in our Recovery Room until you are ready to leave, usually around 10 minutes. We provide this service up to 15 weeks 6 days.
There are two levels of pain control. The "Local"/awake and aware procedure is numbing of the cervix. The Twilight procedure includes the numbing of the cervix as well as a muscle relaxer and pain reliever through an IV to help you relax during the procedure and to help with cramping during and after. The physician will do an ultrasound afterwards to confirm that the procedure was complete.
All termination appointments are now done in one day. This appointment can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. If you are receiving the twilight medicine, you must have a driver that comes into the clinic with you and stays your entire appointment. There are NO exceptions to this rule!
Antibiotics are offered with each surgical procedure at no charge and taken in office prior to your procedure. The risk of infection however from the abortion procedure is extremely low.
Birth control is offered to procedure patients and will be sent directly to the pharmacy provided. Follow up appointments are available three weeks after procedure for a $40 fee. These appointments are not mandatory. If you are under 7 weeks at the time of procedure, it is recommended to return.

Rhogam
If you have Rh negative blood, it is important that you be given an injection of the anti-Rh globulin, called Rhogam, even when you are terminating a pregnancy. Without this injection, it may be difficult or impossible for you to have children in the future. We will be doing a blood test to check your Rh factor. If we find that you do have Rh negative blood, the fee for the injection is an additional $50.
STD Testing
For an additional $100, you can be tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea the day of your abortion. These are the two most common sexually transmitted diseases.
